Andrew G. Marshall takes us through the scary stages of a relationship and shows us a path to restore it. What to do when you realize you have fallen out of love with your partner? What if your partner tells you they are not in love with you anymore? Marshall says it is possible to fall back in love again. He then suggests a very controversial idea: You need to argue more!
Couples that don’t argue are not bonding deeply enough according to Marshall. You can read each part of the book as a couple or individually. He suggests there are six stages in a relationship: arguing, targeting, playing, taking responsibility, giving, and learning.
He also explains how to accept a breakup if everything fails and what to do to fly high again. What kills the passion in a relationship? Why do partners fall apart? What makes people cheat?
In his research, he found out that most partners who fell out of love had a life-changing experience that made the partner take a different direction or feel lost. He dedicated years to help couples that specifically felt “I love you but…” and developed an effective strategy to help them. In this book, he shares his experiences with the reader.
