It can be extremely tempting to jump to the defense or attack rather than just listen with objectivity when we believe someone is behaving irrationally to us. When you feel tension brewing, you’ll likely get a pang of negative emotion with an urge for fight or flight, this is your ego kicking in. It’s super helpful to plan what you’re going to say and how you’re going to tell it before there’s a shouting match (we have plenty of scripts for this on this website, you know!) If they don’t believe you are seeking to understand them, you might win the argument, but as a result, your relationship will dissolve.<\/span><\/p>\n
