Unfortunately, when you give a certain type of person the shield of anonymity to hide behind in the form of a digital screen, you may be confronted with nasty or inappropriate comments. Online trolls like to upset people because they can.<\/strong><\/p>\n
They’re not concerned with the wellbeing of others and they get some sort of weird enjoyment out of making others angry or frustrated. These aren’t people worth your precious time and energy but sometimes we cannot help but let them under our skin.<\/p>\n
Generally speaking, the best way to handle a troll is to ignore them completely. Responding to mean comments just adds more fuel to the fire and trolls have no power when people don’t engage with them.<\/p>\n
It’s best not to condone their behavior by responding to it; if you give trolls a reaction, technically the troll gets exactly what they want. This can be difficult, especially if the troll is particularly offensive, abusive, or hateful.<\/p>\n
